9(a) Visa

NOTE: All applicants who are applying for 9(a) visa are requested to register at the Online Visa Application System (OVAS).

9(a) visa – for Foreign Student

For returning or incoming foreign students, for conversion to 9(f) student visa once arrived in the Philippines.

9(a-1) visa – for Business Visitors

Foreign nationals visiting the Philippines temporarily for scientific, commercial, industrial, professional, and business purposes, who will not receive any compensation from a company/entity in the Philippines for services rendered in the country.

9(a-2) visa – for Tourism or Leisure Visitors

Foreign nationals visiting the Philippines temporarily for pleasure or tourism, leisure, religious, recreation, or amusement purposes, or to visit family, relatives, or friends, and staying for a predetermined amount of time.

9(a-3) visa – for Medical Treatment Visitors

Foreign nationals visiting the Philippines temporarily for medical treatment purposes or health reasons, including their escorts.

9(a-4) visa – for Private Yachtsmen/Sailors

Foreign nationals visiting the Philippines temporarily on board a private yacht/ sailboat; provided that such temporary visit will not entail an employer-employee relationship with a company/entity in the Philippines or the payment of any compensation in the Philippines.

9(a-5) visa for Filmmaking Visitors

Foreign nationals visiting the Philippines temporarily for movie or documentary filming purposes provided that such temporary visit will not entail an employer-employee relationship with a company/entity in the Philippines or the payment of any compensation in the Philippines.

9(a-6) visa for Journalism Visitors

Foreign nationals visiting the Philippines temporarily for news and journalism purposes provided that such temporary visit will not entail an employer-employee relationship with a company/entity in the Philippines or the payment of any compensation in the Philippines.

9(a-7) visa for Athletic and Performing Arts Visitors

Foreign nationals visiting the Philippines temporarily for athletic and performing arts purposes provided that such temporary visit will not entail an employer-employee relationship with a company/entity in the Philippines or the payment of any compensation in the Philippines other than prize money for participation in a sporting or performing arts event.

9(a-8) visa – for Visitors with Other Purposes

Foreign nationals visiting the Philippines temporarily for purpose other than those cited above; provided that such temporary visit will not entail an employer-employee relationship with a company/entity in the Philippines or the payment of any compensation in the Philippines.

 

9(a) Visa for Returning and Incoming Foreign Students
Requirements

  6. Notice of Acceptance (NOA) from the college/university addressed to the student and containing a clear impression of the college/university’s official dry seal.
  7. Police Clearance issued by national police authority in the student’s country of origin or legal residence, duly notarized by local Notary Public and authenticated by the Myanmar Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and by the Philippine Embassy.
  8. Medical Health Certificate issued by the authorized doctor including standard size chest X-ray, HIV and hepatitis B clearance, duly notarized by local Notary Public and authenticated by the Myanmar Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and by the Philippine Embassy
  9. Scholastic Records authenticated by the Myanmar Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and by the Philippine Embassy
  10. Notarized Affidavit of Support and Consent of the person responsible for student’s studies in the Philippines with passport photocopy or national ID

9(a-2) Visa for Tourism or Leisure Visitors

Requirements

9(c) Crew List Visa
Requirements
  1. Duly accomplished F.A. Form No. 2 with photo, to be accomplished per foreign crew member
  2. Duly accomplished F.A. Form No. 61 (Excel format) with the e-signatures of the agent/representative in Part E and of the Captain/Master in Part F and List of Foreign Crew Members in Part H
  3. Photocopy of the passport information page of all foreign crew members. The passport should have a validity of at least six (6) months from the date of estimated departure from the Philippines
  4. Copy of signed letter from the shipping company, naming the Vessel Master/ Captain, requesting for the issuance of a crew list visa for the vessel’s foreign crew members. The letter must be supported with attachments showing the relevant information on the vessel’s multiple port calls, where applicable.
  5. Photocopy of the passport information page of the Vessel Master/Captain who will be commanding the vessel when it enters the Philippines. The passport must be valid for at least six (6) months from the date of departure from the Philippines.
  6. Payment of Visa Fee (US$ cash only):
    1. Crew Members of not more than 40 ~ US$100.00
    2. Crew Members from 41 to 100 ~ US$150.00
    3. Crew Members from 101 to 200 ~ US$200.00
    4. Crew Members more than 200 ~ US$250.00
Instructions for the Crew List Visa Application Form:
  • The Local Agent may accomplish the Crew List Visa application.
  • The data entries must be entered directly into the downloaded MS-EXCEL file (not written on the printed copy of the file).
  • The passport of the Vessel Master/Captain must be used for the Crew List Visa Application, even if the Vessel Master/Captain is already in possession of a valid Philippine visa or is a Filipino national.
  • The Vessel Master/Captain must review and affix his e-signature on Section F (Declaration of Master/ Captain).
  • The accomplished digital file of the Crew List Visa application (the actual MS-EXCEL file, not PDF) must be emailed to the together with the other requirements, using the subject line “CREW LIST VISA APPLICATION”.
  • The Local Agent submits the above requirements and pays the required visa fee in US$ cash only.
  • The Local Agent collects the original crew list visa, which is given to the Vessel Master/Captain for presentation to the Philippine Immigration authorities upon arrival in the Philippines.

 

9(e) Foreign Government Officials Visa
Requirements
  1. Official written notification of the impending assignment of the FGO from the sending state, transmitted via a diplomatic note at least thirty (30) days in advance of expected travel to the Philippines. The Note should state:
  2. the particulars of the visa applicant
  3. his/her official designation in the mission/consular office in the Philippines
  4. his/her expected departure date from the country of origin
  5. expected duration of assignment in the Philippines
  6. the complete name and designation of the official he/she is coming to replace (or if he/she is an additional official being deployed in the sending State’s mission/consular office in the Philippines)
  7. in case of qualified dependents: that the visa applicant is travelling to the Philippines to join and live with the principal for duration of the principal’s assignment
  8. Duly accomplished Non-Immigrant Visa Application form
  9. Two (2) passport-sized photos with plain white or off-white background taken within the last six (6) months
  10. Clear photocopy of the visa applicant’s diplomatic/service/official passport
  11. Clear photocopy of principal’s visa and passport (for dependents and household member applicants)
  12. Supporting documents to establish family ties, marital union, employee-employer relations, etc. as may be deemed necessary, to properly ascertain appropriate visa type per existing rules and regulations.

  1. The Embassy will not expedite the visa processing to accommodate the applicant's flight schedule and refund the visa application fee if the visa is issued later than the applicant's flight schedule or if the visa application is denied. Please plan accordingly. Visa applicants are only to book their flights after the visa has been issued.

  1. Filipino citizens’ foreign spouse and children, regardless of age, who are travelling with them
  2. Former Filipino citizens, together with their spouses and children regardless of age, who are travelling with them.
