The Philippine Embassy, through its Consular Section, performs its notarial and legalization services in the context of the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations.
Beginning 15 June 2019, we will no longer physically affix red satin ribbons to documents brought to the Embassy for legalization, or more commonly known as “red ribbon”. The documents will continue to bear the round gold seal embossed with the Embassy’s dry seal, which will now be affixed to the upper left corner of the documents and bound through with an eyelet. The Embassy notes that this change is only in appearance of such documents and will be implemented by all Department of Foreign Affairs Consular Offices and Foreign Service Posts. Although the above services are more commonly known as “red ribbon”, the non-use of the red satin ribbon has no effect on the validity of the legalized document.
The general requirements for documents to be notarized are as follows:
• Original document to be notarized
• Original and Photocopy of Passport Data Page
• Personal appearance
• Service fee USD25.00
CERTIFICATE OF ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
An acknowledgment is the act by which a person who has executed a legal document goes before a competent officer and declares it to be his true and voluntary act and deed. When a person who has executed a legal document appears personally before an officer of the Philippine Embassy and is acknowledged thereof, the officer shall execute a Certificate of Acknowledgment.
The requirements for the Issuance of a Certificate of Acknowledgment are as follows:
• Original copy of the legal document executed;
• Original and Photocopy of Passport Data Page; and
• Personal appearance
• Service fee USD25.00
For Acknowledgement of Employment Contract:
• Original Employment Contract with Repatriation clause;
• Photocopy of Passport Data Page (employer and employee);
• Company documents (Certificate of incorporation, list of company directors);and
• Personal Appearance of either signatories of the contract
• Service fee USD25.00
CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICATION
When an officer of the Myanmar government has performed a notarial or other official act for use in the Philippines, the official character of the executing officer should be verified by the officer of the Philippine Embassy. The officer of the Philippine Embassy shall then issue a Certificate of Authentication in order to give the service legal force and effect in the Philippines.
The requirements for the issuance of a Certificate of Authentication are as follows:
• Original copy of the document duly authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
• Service fee USD25.00
