THE PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN MYANMAR COMMEMORATES THE 58TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDATION OF ASEAN
YANGON, 8 August 2025 – The Philippine Embassy in Myanmar joined the rest of the ASEAN community in commemorating the 58th anniversary of the founding of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
To mark the occasion, Embassy personnel gathered for a simple yet meaningful ceremony that included the singing of the ASEAN Anthem.
As part of the celebration, the Embassy also visited the National Museum of Yangon, home to the ASEAN Corner, which showcases cultural and heritage items from all ASEAN countries
The Philippines will assume the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2026, which will also coincide with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Myanmar. END



THE PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN YANGON CONDUCTS CONSULAR AND ATN MISSION IN MANDALAY; WELCOMES OFFICIALS FROM MIGRANT WORKERS OFFICE (MWO) BANGKOK
03 August 2025, YANGON – The Philippine Embassy in Yangon successfully conducted a Consular and Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) Mission in Mandalay on 2 August 2025.
The Embassy deployed a two-member team composed of Mr. Patrick Jason D. Dom and Ms. Shiela Amor Bergonia. A total of 81 Filipinos were in attendance, with the team delivering the following services:
- 1 passport renewal processed;
- 2 passports released;
- 8 notarial services rendered;
- 47 Embassy IDs issued; and,
- 26 financial assistance distributed
The Embassy likewise expresses its appreciation for the support of Pilipinas.MM officers from Yangon who joined the mission to check on the condition and well-being of the Filipino community in Mandalay. Present were President AJ Blardony, Treasurer Jennelyn Malungcut, and Auditor Shaira Talens, together with Mandalay-based Vice President Dennis Cabarlez and Secretary Mrs. Emily Dela Roca Valero.
On an even date, the Embassy also welcomed Labor Attaché Don Albert Philippe Pangcog and Administrative Staff Andrew L. Agravante of Migrant Workers Office (MWO)-Bangkok on 02 August 2025 in Yangon, during their official visit to Myanmar from 31 July to 03 August 2025. The visit was part of the Philippine government’s continuing efforts to support Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) affected by the recent 7.7-magnitude earthquake.
As part of their mission, MWO Bangkok officials traveled to both Mandalay and Yangon, where they distributed financial assistance to 27 overseas Filipinos and verified 10 employment contracts. They also conducted assessments of labor conditions and gathered information on work-related concerns affecting OFWs. While in Mandalay, the MWO team also met with Filipino community members from Nay Pyi Taw, who traveled to the city to receive financial assistance and access MWO services.
This visit follows an earlier mission carried out from 27 April to 03 May 2025, during which MWO Bangkok officials, along with support staff from the Central Office in Manila, conducted on-site contract verification, issued Overseas Employment Certificates (OECs), and extended welfare-related services.
The Philippine Embassy, in close coordination with MWO and other relevant agencies, remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the rights and promoting the welfare of overseas Filipinos in Myanmar. The Embassy also recognizes the vital contributions of Pilipinas.MM and looks forward to continued collaboration in future initiatives. END

THE PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN YANGON BIDS FAREWELL TO THE VALUED MEMBERS OF THE TEAM AND WELCOMES NEW STAFF
YANGON, 29 July 2025 - The Philippine Embassy in Yangon is pleased to share the recent changes in its personnel composition. As part of the regular rotation of foreign service assignments, the Embassy has recently bid farewell to two valued members and welcomed a new staff member who has recently joined the team.
On 16 June 2025, Third Secretary and Vice Consul Peter John V. de la Fuente departed for his new assignment at the Philippine Consulate General in New York (NYPCG). During his tenure at Post since July 2022, he served as Supervisor of the Political, Consular, and Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) Sections. His professionalism and dedication to duty were most evident in the critical role he played during the Embassy’s emergency response efforts in the aftermath of the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar.
The Embassy also bid farewell to Ms. Brenda D. Hilongo on 17 July 2025, who has been reassigned to one of the geographic offices of the Department of Foreign Affairs in Manila. Ms. Hilongo served the Embassy from 2019 to 2025, fulfilling various key functions as Consular Assistant, Alternate Signing Officer Attaché, and later as Post’s Assistant Administrative Officer. Over the course of six years, she has stood as a steadfast member of the team.
The Embassy acknowledges the significant contributions of Vice Consul de la Fuente and Ms. Hilongo, and wishes them both continued success in their new assignments.
Ms. Gerly C. Tolentino officially assumed her duties as Assistant Administrative Officer, Consular Assistant, Alternate Signing Officer, and Attaché on 17 July 2025. Ms. Tolentino, who joined the Department in 2016, brings with her extensive experience in consular services, having served under the Office of Consular Affairs’ (OCA) Passport Division and later with the Consular Offices Coordinating Division (COCD). Her exemplary service was recognized in 2024 when she was named one of the Department’s Outstanding Employees.
The Embassy remains steadfast in its commitment to be of service to our kababayan in Myanmar. END
