YANGON, 8 December 2025 – The Philippine Embassy in Myanmar, in partnership with Pilipinas.MM, hosted “Kape, Kamera, Aksyon!: A Year-End Kapihan sa Pasuguan to Celebrate Creativity and Bayanihan” on 7 December 2025, in celebration of Overseas Filipino Month.

More than a festive gathering, the Kapihan served as both a celebration and a reflection of the collective journey of 2025. The Embassy and Pilipinas.MM delivered presentations highlighting key initiatives, accomplishments, and the partnerships that strengthened support for Filipinos in Myanmar.

The program also offered a moment to look back on a challenging yet meaningful year and to look ahead to 2026, which will mark significant milestones as the Philippines assumes the ASEAN Chairmanship and commemorates 70 years of Philippines–Myanmar bilateral relations.

In his remarks, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Angelito A. Nayan reflected on the growth of the Kapihan initiative. The Embassy held its first Kapihan on 23 February. Since then, he shared, the Kapihan had grown in number, spirit, and purpose, strengthened by a community “na may tunay na malasakit sa isa’t isa.”

Pilipinas.MM President AJ Blardony, Jr. likewise underscored the heart of the celebration, emphasizing that Overseas Filipino Month is not only a time to welcome the Christmas season but also a moment to honor the stories, sacrifices, and aspirations of Filipinos abroad.

In this spirit of solidarity and shared hope, St. Mary’s Home choir shared their music during the program. The venue was further brightened with handmade lanterns crafted by the girls of St. Mary’s Home, adding warmth and meaning to the celebration.

The Embassy conveyed its appreciation to all participants and partners whose creativity, support, and camaraderie made the gathering meaningful. As the Filipino community looks toward 2026, the Embassy reaffirmed its commitment to fostering spaces where Filipinos in Myanmar can connect, collaborate, and celebrate the values that continue to bind them together in the spirit of bayanihan.
